You're a gold man, Buddy Holly
I’m ashamed to be wrong about Buddy Holly. In my defense, “Peggy Sue” was originally titled “Cindy Lou” after a two year old cousin of Buddy’s. They changed it to Peggy Sue because the Crickets drummer, Jerry, was about to marry a girl by that name. I heard this story once, but couldn’t put my finger on all the pieces of that puzzle “on the air”, so I dug a big hole for myself. Sorry, Buddy. No disrespect.
